Personal finance apps for UK iOS users, part 3 - getting to grips with ...

This is the last in our series of reviews of genuinely useful apps for iPhone and iPad to help you get to grips with your personal finances. Check earlier posts for apps to help you keep track of your expenses and debts (link:http://www.lendingstream.co.uk/blog/personal-finance-apps-for-ukios-users-part-1/) and our last post looked at tips on keeping tracks on your bank account and daily expenses (Link:http://www.lendingstream.co.uk/blog/personal-finance-apps-for-ukios-users-part-2-helping-you-manage-your-finances/ ). Today we look at three really useful apps to help you navigate the very complicated world of UK tax.

8. UK Tax Calculator

Platform: iPad and iPhone
Cost: Free

This app is particularly handy if you have income coming from more than one source. The app contains information on income taxes, all UK codes, National Insurance Classes 1, 2, and 4, student loan calculations as well as three different pension schemes.

It allows you to calculate your earnings cumulatively, or on an annual, monthly or even daily basis.

9. UK Tax Rates

Platform: iPad and iPhone
Cost: Free

UK Tax rates quite simply provides all the information from the latest UK Budget.

10. VAT Toolbox
URL: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/vat-toolbox/id491885151?mt=8&ls=1
Platform: iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch
Cost: Free

VAT Toolbox helps with calculating the Value Added Tax on any given purchase. The app comprises a VAT calculator as well as a Euro VAT ID validator.

The calculator tells you how much VAT would be added to the cost of items you?re looking to purchase, as well as telling you the amount of VAT if it?s already been added on to the price. VAT rates for all EU member states are included.

The VAT ID validator helps you to guard against VAT fraud by helping you to check if a VAT number is valid. Simply select the desired EU country and enter the VAT number you would like to check, and the app will quickly confirm if the VAT number is valid, and even shows you the registered name and address. The results can then be exported to your photo album, or in the form of a pdf.

And don?t forget, if saving money is a priority to check out our earlier post, (link: http://www.lendingstream.co.uk/blog/money-saving-apps-for-uk-ios-users-part-i/) and as always, if you have come across a personal finance app that you find useful, please share in our comments.
